    21 Grams

    ★★★½

21 Grams is different than what I expected as I was prepared to watch a movie that focused on drugs and addicts rather than a bleak, tragic story of three interwoven lives. The performances are phenomenal from Benecio Del Toro to Sean Penn to Naomi Watts while the non-linear storytelling is confusing yet so effective in the end. At the end, it’s a difficult film to connect to and it seems like the characters haven’t been fleshed out enough.

    Confessions

    ★★★★

Confessions is not for the faint of hearts, being the adaptation of Minato Kanae. Having read the book, I can say that Confessions is a fantastic translation from book to film with a bleak, stylized tradition and amazing performances from both the adults and the kids. Changes are made and all of them are effective, keeping the film much more grounded and plausible than the book, while still keeping the spirit of the psychological thriller and providing a somewhat horrifying look into the education system of Japan.

Rewatching Interstellar is really one great, immersive experience. I love everything about this so I would have to raise the score to a score of 5 out of 5. Beside Matthew Mcconaughey, Anne Hathaway also have such an underrated performance and pretty much everyone in the cast is great.

It’s funny, intense, creepy, isolated and disturbing. The acting is phenomenal and Willem Dafoe is definitely snubbed at the Oscars. The writing is excellent with fantastic dialogues. The cinematography captures perfectly every scenes. The music is fantastic and unique. The color palette - Black and…
