For my 47th birthday I decided to start my movie watching with the superb Sorcerer, one of the tensest, keep your ass on the edge of your seat movies that I've ever seen.
Yes, it takes a little while to get to the truck driving, but everything up to that point just paints how bleak these guys' situations are. They fucked up bad enough that they can never go home and their days are numbered in the South American town where they've been hiding out. Once they hit the road, though, things only get shittier. How they managed to film this without half the cast or crew dying is a mystery to me.
