  Another tedious effort from Peele, delivering what can only be described as sub-par Shyamalan. The writing is sloppy, the characters two-dimensional, the storylines nonsensical. Not a single aspect of it works. Let’s pray he opts for early retirement.

  This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

  A welcome return to his native genre after a 23 hiatus of boring films. It’s classic Cronenberg, but sadly never really coalesces. Characters aren’t fully formed and the film never manages to build to a climax. It also suffers from being shot on digital, making everything look cheaper and flatter than his earlier work on film. The terrible (though fortunately minimal) CGI does not help. But it’s good to have Cronenberg back doing what he does best and not giving us fucking DeLillo adaptations that no one needs.

  Robert Eggers once again proves he’s a humorless bore who gets off making hetero nonsense for white supremacist frat boys. A true auteur would have made the entire movie about Nicole’s wig. Stop making movies about men!

  One of the year’s best films and one of the few honest depictions of the porn industry, managing to avoid sensationalism and fear-mongering. The entire film rests on the brave, impressive debut performance from Sofia Kappel, who plays a charismatic Swedish teen setting out for LA with the intention of becoming America’s Next Top Porn Star.
