Welch's experience as a production designer gives the film an look unrivaled by anything I have ever seen. It's as if this script was tailor made for a man of his skills, requiring so much production heavy intensity that only an industry veteran could take on.

Cameron Crowe Sucks described it best: p i e r c e d. Robert Eggers took Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe and made them his agents of chaos. They are on that next level that is rarely seen nowadays in this film. Transcendent performances in a film so expertly crafted on a technical level that all one can do is sit back and marvel at it. I'm still in awe, as I had unrealistic expectations for this movie and it somehow surpassed them. We found cinema this year folks, and it's filled with Willem Dafoe farts.
