La Haine

La Haine ★★★★

It’s not the fall that kills you. It’s the landing.

This is a strong and full of power piece, made in 1995, about racism, life of the suburbs and hierarchy abuse.

It takes place in France, but it can be extrapolated to any country. It looks like a documentary starring three young men: a Jew, an Arab and a black guy, which have something in common, they live in the poverty of the suburbs, in Paris.

Instead of being divided into chapters, it is divided into hours, into the 24 hours in a normal day of these guys.

There are some hard scenes, but that happens every day whether we want to or not, sometimes a little bit of reality comes in handy, that’s why I recommend it.
