Watching this had me recalling that clip of Greenaway dissing Scorsese, saying he and his ilk are all just derivative of Griffith. Funny and true, why not ?
Anyway, very contemporary in a way that maybe says more about how stagnated studio filmmaking would become/is than anything else, but Lang certainly operating on a higher level here regardless.

it is funny how every prestige tv drama is just this, but very horrible and much longer.
