one funny idea, eventually a little tedious. Jeremy Irons always an agreeable screen presence at least.

A Dangerous Method 2011
definitely top 3 for DC, maybe not his most compositionally thrilling, but otherwise maybe his smartest. goes back and locates all the ideas he ever messed with in his genre films in real history, and its sort of even more deranged. so funny too, very intentional.

(not super fond of this title but they are my words and are in the text, so I'm sticking with it!)

The Worst Person in the World 2021
I like whatever 35mm stock they chose, all the colors look good and full and saturated just right. definitely perked up when the Skidoo song came on as well.
otherwise
gifted kid cinema, post-greta gerwig cinema, etc. allows a certain demo to feel chic and sophisticated about their non-disruption of social norms. totally a movie made by a 50 year old guy , can see why he's impressed with this character, but everyone else gotta do some reflecting.

The King's Man 2021
surprisingly stirring male melodrama hidden amongst usual Matthew vaughn grotesquerie + very stupid/sinister ideology (so much so that it is more or less laughable, but still...)
