Honestly, the first thing I have to say is that after two films, it’s pretty apparent that Phil’s style is not for me. It’s not the gore that gets me, it’s the arthouse vibe. There are very few art films that sit right with me, sadly. I struggle to get on their wavelengths.

The infamous “newborn porn” scene was far less shocking than expected... but it disarmed me because I assumed that it’s less than shocking actuality must mean the rest of the film wouldn’t be so bad, afterall. If this, the most infamous scene in the film, was actually more absurd than it was disturbing, surely the rest of the film must not actually be THAT bad. Boy, was I wrong...
