John Wick: Chapter 2 ★★★½

Watching the first two John Wick films back to back is an interesting experience. The first film is grittier, with a real sense of misery and loss. The journey of Wick’s character is the heart of that first film, and that heart is lacking in the sequel.

However, it makes up for that somewhat with two big pluses - a strong sense of self from the word go, and a more stylish visual experience. The climactic scenes in the house of mirrors are just stunning, and train station sequence with Common manages to be almost comical as well as very tense.
