Perfect choice for my 1000th entry here. I could not think of a better film that I had not yet logged in my short time on the site. What an idealistic, writerly masterpiece it still is. Not to use any of those words loosely, it has not aged but a minute, while cultivating such a grand concept of its time and place. Wilder was a mad genius. The ageless wonders he could write, the perfect ear for dialogue and tone, with this being his greatest expression.
