Just went from watching one of the worst sound mixed films of 2020 to the very best. Seriously, this film’s sound mix is fucking POETIC artistry. The way it puts you into Ruben’s particular state at every juncture, how it develops whether it’s the initial stages of the loss of hearing, how it deteriorates, silence, the static, the flashes of music, how it switches from in and out of his head...AMAZING. I cannot believe how great it was in this regard.
Otherwise found this very compelling, Riz Ahmed is fucking amazing as always and despite a slightly weaker third act I dug this a lot on the whole. But man...that sound mix is al I want to talk about right now.
