This movie is my jam.
Right from the start it sets the perfect tone with a killer 60’s title sequence and John Williams Oscar nominated jazz score. The nearly two and half hour running time flies by with a natural and playful humor that never feels forced.
And make no mistake it’s Leo’s film, but there’s no way it would work without Tom Hanks. He keeps everything wonderfully balanced as the chasing ying to Leo’s running yang.
You’ve also got several great supporting turns with the likes of Amy Adams, Martin Sheen, Jennifer Garner, Elizabeth Banks and of course Christopher Walken’s Oscar nominated performance.
BONUS POINTS for the fantastic life of the real Frank Abagnale Jr. If you have any interest in this subject, please do yourself a favor and seek out his autobiography. It’s one of my all-time favorite books and it’s utterly fascinating!
