    Jackals and Arabs

“We are the only European filmmakers, filmmakers of European nations. We make films in Italian as well as in French and in German." - J-M.S

  • Daïnah la Métisse

    Daïnah la Métisse

Studio Gaumont's truncated and censored version does not prevent traces of an unattainable masterpiece to shine through; unattainable like the true fate of Daïnah and what’s evoked in song: "if it's wrong or right I got to go where you are, ain't no chains can bind you, if you live I'll find you." For me, Daïnah la métisse is a greater loss to cinema than Greed, and particularly for its decipherable moral stance against patriarchal and colonial power structures.

Ahhh, the sacred cow smirks at my two cents.
