Dammmmnnnnnn, Savini's make-up effects are awesome. The practical gore effects are some of the most stomach churning I've seen - you feel and cringe at every splash of blood, flesh rip and drop of intestines.
The rest of the film is entertaining, but the cast ruined it for me. Terry Alexander aside, the entire cast was made up of untalented actors whose screeching and arguing become increasingly grating. Cardille especially is simply horrendous. It is a shame because I like the clastrophobic world Romero is trying to create here, I think he manages to build more tension than Dawn and he delivers a couple of neat scares - the opening scene made me poop myself.
It is better than a 3/5, but I honestly absolutely hated the cast.
