Alexander V’s review published on Letterboxd:
Peter Jackson vision of the Hobbit doesn't equals Tolkien's version and although you have heard that before, it really is decisive in how you will be viewing The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies. If you are a purist and would have liked to see a single, maybe at max 2 films which would have stuck true to the source, you will not be happy with this Hobbit. Peter Jackson left out almost a whole chapter (The Return Journey). Because of this I felt this installment was unbalanced, despite its 144 minutes length.
However, if you are not a purist and mind you I am not, you will be able to enjoy the finale and final glimpse of Peter Jackson vision on Middle-Earth.
Despite the fact I had higher expectation of the actual battle of the five armies, I again was in awe of the cinematographic beauty my eyes feasted upon. I actually look forward to the extended version, and hopefully within that extended version I will get to see some more Beorn and or Radegast.
