Casey’s review published on Letterboxd:
A little formulaic and with a few understandable but still unnecessary contrivances sprinkled here and there, and the historical inaccuracies - while insanely overblown by the internet - are undeniably there, but, like, c’mon y’all. Name another historical epic set in Africa featuring an almost entirely black cast without relying on some white savior bullshit, let alone one written and directed by women. And one this well-shot and tightly directed and acted. Plenty of discussions worth having about the intention and nature of art/entertainment but none of them on the internet!!!
