Real good, but real depressing. Man this film was heavy and hard to sit through at times. The acting was so on point that it made me forget I was watching a film at times. Quality A24!
Loved it! One of my favorite Paul Thomas Anderson films.
Fantastic performances from Philip Seymour Hoffman and Joaquin Phoenix. Seriously one of Phoenix’s top roles! The film deals with very interesting psychological matter that never had me bored once. It was also insane and weird at times just like it’s protagonist.
Not only is Joker my favorite film of the year, but it’s one that I think is important for today’s society to see. Joaquin Phoenix’s performance was equal to Heath Ledger’s for me. This movie will certainly be divisive as I can see a lot of people not liking this. This is NOT a comic book film and there isn’t any action scenes. This film is purely about society tearing a man down so hard the only happiness he can find is through chaos. Masterpiece.
I’m disappointed. Especially after how great of a film Hereditary was. The cinematography and acting were excellent. I was actually really invested in the first hour, but once we reached the half-way mark, it lost me. There was a lot that was never explained and a big event that happened in the beginning that was never tied back. I also never really found myself disturbed like I did with Hereditary, only grossed out by bizarre sequences. Don’t think I’ll watch this one again...
