I kinda was over Wes Anderson. Yes, I enjoyed Moonrise Kingdom. Hell, I even bought it on Blu-Ray. Something about young love hits close to the heart. But, there were aspects of the film that I didn't really dig.
All those feelings were washed away by this marvelous film. This is Wes Anderson at the top of his craft.
Woke up not feeling well on a cold, winter Monday in January. Relegated to the couch for a few hours, I recognized this moment was the *right* moment to start catching up on all the summer blockbusters I missed since I don't really spend time at the cinema much anymore.
First up? Guardians of the Galaxy. From the opening scene to the last, this was the perfect choice to keep me entertained, enthralled, and laughing as I lounged under a blanket while most of the world toiled away at work.
I don't buy movies anymore but I would *almost* consider buying this for my modest collection.
I'm a big fan of Sexy Beast (an amazing performance by Ben Kingsley and top notch soundtrack as well) so I was very interested in Jonathan Glazer's take on an alien Scarlett Johansson trying to be human.
That said, I felt a bit underwhelmed by the film. There were moments of beauty and brilliance but also stretches where the pacing felt a bit uneven. Also, this movie isn't for anyone with issues with nudity, violence, or sociopathic behavior. (To be…
