This was solidly one of the worst films I’ve seen in my entire life. Coming in at a bloated 2 hours and 40 minutes, this movie did absolutely nothing that it couldn’t have done in 1.5 hours. This, of course, says nothing considering this movie had almost nothing of value to say and those hypothetical 1.5 hours probably would have felt just as long.
When the biggest laughs in the entire movie come from scenes where Bruce Lee is exclaiming while fighting, a woman’s hairy armpit is exposed, a recurring throwaway fact that a man MURDERED HIS WIFE, and a woman is brutally murdered at the hands of a professional fighter, you can’t help but think “huh, maybe this is a racist, sexist piece of trash.” We’re supposed to cheer that Brad Pitt defeats the Manson murders? Why? Because he can jump onto a roof without a ladder and drives fast? Is the audience supposed to forget that he too murdered HIS WIFE????
I could go on forever about what I didn’t like about this movie. A disjointed plot. A mishandling of a real life tragedy. The criminal underutilization of Margot Robbie. So...many....shots of feet.
I liked DiCaprio, and find that he acts his best under Tarantino’s direction. I liked Brad Pitt’s acid trip. I didn’t like anything else this movie gave me, and actively disliked most of it.
