Catra Wardhana’s review published on Letterboxd:
A little bummed by the tonal shift in the second half. The absence of musical numbers gives me chance to contemplate how thin the characters are. Not to mention that grounded realism is nowhere to be found to balance out its brazen optimism.
But you know what? Who the hell cares!
Because La La Land is so bold, chic and stylish, brave and saccharine-sweet, it's exquisitely crafted, it even features Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone dancing in the fucking space. Exactly the type of movie I need to melt away my cold, stone-hard, cynical heart once in a while.
