The Coen brothers write the best screenplays and the most interesting characters. This movie isn’t really funny, it’s more absurd. I see this as a joke crime movie that takes its time to pay off with nothing. The acting is incredible, the dialogue is crisp and the interactions are to die for. The ashes scene felt a little off, but that’s my only real critic. I’m not the biggest Coen fan, but maybe I should start paying better attention to their art.
On rewatch I realize that this might be the most subtle fucked up movie about love ever put to film. It lulls you to sleep with it's narrative and soundtrack. DeNiro is my favorite actor and this dude doesn't fucking miss. I'm too tired to be happy I watched this. I'll save the excitement for morning.
