All things Horror and Sci-fi - King and Lovecraft especially.
Weak story and human characters aside (not to forget some often underlit cinematography), the thing it does nail perfectly this time is the Predator. His look, feel and behaviour are all spot on. Dudes a total badass. It even throws in the right amounts of iconic score and sound design to really scratch that nostalgic itch. Fair to say this movie is unfairly judged.
Far from awful, and it does have some clever set up and ideas. It just fundamentally fails to nail the Predators properly as the agile lethal killing machines that they are in the original two movies. Seeing them running around as hulking great beefcakes just doesn't work at all, and is ridiculous to see.
