Not sure about this one. Enjoyed the first hour of the movie much more than the last forty minutes. Good acting and cinematography doesn’t mean much if it isn’t accompanied by substance. Drive is pretty to look at, but ultimately uncompelling.
Very disappointing rewatch. It’s still a pretty good movie, it just lacks the punch that it used to have. On top of that, scenes that I used to find scary seem incredibly silly now. Certainly a lower-tier Kubrick. Also, despite what some people may say, Jack Nicholson’s performance, while being entertaining, definitely lacks the nuance that his other great roles have had (Chinatown, Cuckoo’s Nest, The Departed).
