Carol Grant’s review published on Letterboxd:
Maybe one of the scariest and most upsetting horror movies I've seen in a while. Formally very controlled (especially for a debut) with deeply sinister subject matter and meticulous construction.
And then the ending... kinda deflates it. Where it seemed like the movie was about to head somewhere tragic and interesting, it instead becomes more about itself and its own construction. It winds up feeling very empty, that all of these expertly crafted scares were mere flexing as opposed to genuine.
Don't get me wrong, I was horrified. I just wish it was actually about something.
