Chad Kohalyk’s review published on Letterboxd:
Very good directing. Ben Affleck did a good job at that, even if he was a little flat as an actor. All the call backs to the historical footage was appreciated. The first scene with the storming of the embassy was brilliantly tense. The final scenes were a bit too "nick-of-timey" though.
Having been to Iran, I can say that the mountains don't exactly look like that, but they sure do _feel_ like that. I wrote about the failed rescue attempt (Desert One) and spent a while studying this incident. The movie hit home with me. If you want to know more, I highly recommend Mark Bowden's brilliant book, Guests of the Ayatollah.
