Beautiful film. My daughter and I were in tears pretty much the whole time.
Tom Moore is able to capture that strange nostalgia one feels when you watch a Ghibli film: the feeling of deep cultural understanding for a different heritage. The voices are endearing and the art style is captivating, not to mention the music. This has all the parts to be a classic.
But beware, it is a very emotional film. If you have sensitive kids, you may want to take care when you watch it (ie watch in the morning, make sure mom is in the room or easily accessible, etc).
