Chad Kohalyk’s review published on Letterboxd:
The mysterious beginning is great, but as the movie progresses it loses it a little. Pretty funny though. It is strange to see a Ghibli film in modern Japan, with all the concerns of a modern high school girl. The animation and art style is also very modern. It could be Morita's first film, but he is an unknown to me. One other thing that it lacks is the deep nature themes, more typical to Miyazaki's work, which is actually refreshing. An entertaining fantasy.
