    (2019 Final Cut)

    I can't believe this movie exists for how bizarre and unique it is yet so big budget and grand in scale. A disturbing and mind bending journey into the deepest and darkest corners of Vietnam/Cambodia, but also the human mind, morality, and the limits of insanity. I love how it builds the tension and escalates the insanity as Willard goes deeper into the river and closer to Kurtz. And Brando is so damn good.

    Having seen Lanthimos' last three films I thought I had a good grasp on what to expect from this one - nope! This is his most uncomfortable and bizarre movie that I've seen, and I think where his autistic deadpan style works the best.     Goddamn fucking shit it's so good. I think people who don't like this are the same people who don't get Catcher in the Rye - as in they weren't angsty and frustrated enough during their teenage years. Also Timothee's character is a spot on parody of several edgy socialist Chapo-listening skinny white guys that I can think of off the top of my head. "I haven't lied in two years."
