This is what modern day hixploitation looks like, films like this and Winter’s Bone. These newer films can be grating if they try to be overly serious, and while Joe doesn’t offer very much in the way of humor, it’s pulled off with enough subtlety to make it pretty effective. The acting is it’s greatest strength though—Cage gives one of his outstanding performances, very rarely releasing the Cage Rage. Tye Sheridan gives the strongest performance in the film, playing a…

  • Snuff

Without doing any research, i can tell you that this is a case of the marketing and production  of the film being more interesting than the film itself. They took a crappy but mildly entertaining exploitation flick about a gang of vicious women who are led by a Manson-esque man named Sataan, added a newly filmed short ending about a woman getting tortured, and tried to sell it as a snuff film. That tacked on scene basically feels like an…

I forgot this existed. Thanks, Tubi. I guess. It’s…a movie. These are some of the most obnoxious and unlikable characters I’ve ever seen in a horror movie. The soundtrack has horrorcore rap like Gravediggaz; for a second I was taken aback, and all, "whoa...did the rapper Snow do a song with cypress hill?" Luckily and not-luckily (a lil of both), this wasn't true. This movie sucks. The 90s were a weird decade for horror.

I had this playing on repeat last night while I tried to sleep. Comfort food, you know. I think I literally have this film memorized by now, down to the little details. Tom Green trolled Hollywood and made one of the funniest movies of all time while he was at it. Absurdist classic. I miss Rip Torn.

Great gothic horror, wonderful viewing for the spooky season. Barbara Steele is mesmerizing in this movie. Literally a perfect movie to watch for Halloween.

    The Last Drive-In

This movie is just a blast, with fun characters, surprising violence, a very dark sense of humor, and a heavy metal aesthetic. There’s a lot of humor here, and satanic wackiness, but I was a bit shocked at how dark and mean-spirited it can be. Very well-made, acted and entertaining. Thanks Joe Bob for showing some lesser known films. It’s been an amazing season, my brain is still fucked from Things.
