I quite liked the narrative but Justin Timberlake was insufferably cringe. He spoke like a knock off Jay Gatsby. Winslet also reminded me of Gillian Anderson’s Blanche Dubois at times, which is in no way a bad thing. Probably wouldn’t have watched this film if I’d realised who directed it but that’s a whole other discussion.
Two years ago, I learned every little detail of Double Indemnity inside out for a film exam. It was one of the greats that introduced me to Film Noir and I still love it now. I also felt embarrassingly proud of myself for still being able to quote the majority of the film. (WJEC and ‘sexy opening statements’ do weird things to people)
‘We're both rotten.’
‘Only you're a little more rotten.’
