This is not a back-handed statement: I appreciate Nolan making great middlebrow content. After being joyfully pandered to by Barbie, here's the chance not to be pandered to at all. No one goes into a Wikipedia entry on the Manhattan project or a Vox, "Niels Bohr and the importance of Copehagen, Explained" bit. It's a visually stunning movie that's 80% blokes in rooms, because Nolan's two gifts are spectacle and actor's faces. His weaknesses (there's 20 minutes that could be cut, the sex scenes are like an alien had sex described to them, the sound mix) are easily outshadowed by the scale of his vision here.
