I hope you find my “Meh” quote on the back of the Blu-ray.

    The Death of Stalin

The humor is spot-on (for the most part) in this packed cast with serious subject matter as its backdrop. The dry humor works to its advantage taking an interesting approach to Stalin and it works. It’s a fresh take and kept the story more fascinating to watch unfold. The comedic timing between actors and actresses are flawless and showcase their enormous talent. The set pieces rival of great period dramas (like most recently “The Darkest Hour”) in that they are beautiful eye-candy. I would recommend this is you want something different to cut through your viewing options this week.

    Love, Simon

Funny, heartwarming, and such a delight. Despite a problem I have with the way the bullies are portrayed, everything is pretty flawless. Nick Robinson gives one of the best performances of his career (and possibly of the year) as well as everyone else adding their own voice in the story and making an impact in the scenes they are in. This is a new coming-of-age classic in the making. Never be afraid of being yourself.

  • Hostiles

Brutal, unflinching violence paired with some nuanced performances and gorgeous cinematography, Director Scott Cooper gives us a journey, while being familiar but greatly executed, about self-reflection and the option to change ones moral code to do what it is morally right. I recommend it.
