Wonderful character work and the relationships that transpire, committed and elevated performances, strong and grounded world-building, and complete badassery make this one a solid installment into the MCU.

Aardman can release a bad movie and never go lower than two stars. Their technical artistry is always wonderful, delightful and filled with vivid detail. This film is another example of that but everything else is flat. The characters and story are what will really test your rating. Nothing in these two categories aren’t particularly memorable, except a few funny jokes that had me laughing pretty hard, it’s the technical merits that always leave me wanting more from this company...regardless if it’s going to forgettable like this one.

    The 15:17 to Paris

Sloppy, inept filmmaking that makes Clint Eastwood go into autopilot and resulted in a painful experience with terrible: acting, dialogue, cinematography, and editing. This whole thing is baffling on how it got a wide release for human eyes to witness. I respect the men who did this in real life (and also portraying themselves on the big screen) but that’s as far as my positives go

Brutal, unflinching violence paired with some nuanced performances and gorgeous cinematography, Director Scott Cooper gives us a journey, while being familiar but greatly executed, about self-reflection and the option to change ones moral code to do what it is morally right. I recommend it.
