In preparation for Ti West’s new film “X.”
First time watch. Dripping in great atmosphere, but a horror film cannot survive on vibes alone. It’s got to be scary, even when the burn is slow. Not a movie where a full 80% of the movie is the main character alone, either running errands, or hanging out alone in a house where nothing scary is happening. And especially not a movie where the ending has a real “been-there, done that” quality. Would probably bump it up half a star if there was more Greta Gerwig.
Heard the new movie’s good, so I hope I like that one more!
