Might need to rewatch this one, wasn't really in the mood for this kind of movie going in, thought it would be something different. The humor didn't really connect with me.

I enjoyed this movie far more than I thought I would. I originally had watched it just to get context for Herzog's version, however this movie deserves to be watched and appreciated in its own right. The score to this movie is absolutely breathtaking, every piece of music is made so perfectly for the scene and is a big part of what makes this movie so engaging. It seems on this site that when people talk about the performances in…

This movie ends far too soon, guess its just a symptom of it coming out so soon after Watergate, good movie though.

Straight up not enough muppets in this movie, muppet side characters aren't used outside of one song really until the last 15 minutes. Probably the 3rd best muppet movie ever made.

"I can't wait to once again have this dream in which I'll be a child again and in which I'll be happy, knowing that everything still lies ahead, that everything is possible."

Visually speaking this is Tarkovsky's strongest work, this may just be the most beautiful work ever put to cellulose. From the art direction, to the set design, coloration, camera movements, all of it is masterfully crafted. However, I will say this is probably Tarkovsky's weakest narrative, Mirror's plot…

It is very hard not to draw comparisons between Black Swan and The Wrestler. Aronofsky has seemingly created the same movie twice, one is steeped in gritty realism, and one is theatrical and fantastical, but both portray a similar concept, how far one will tear themselves apart for their art. I enjoy both films and don't think one is better. However, I can see Black Swan's presentation as a sort of love-it-or-hate-it, which can, at times, be melodramatic and possibly slightly corny. However, I believe this to be intentional from Aronofsky drawing on the whimsical and over-the-top nature of ballets. Overall this movie is fucking kino.
