Drew Edelstein’s review published on Letterboxd:
There is no greater master of cinematic space (and all the relationships and conflicts that a frame can animate and eliminate within a 24th of a second) than Johnnie To.
A masterpiece in brutal efficiency and the rule of cool, how brotherhood lasts only as long as your favor from above does, and will remain long after your time is up. This is the textbook by which all other action films (and truthfully, films at large) should be based upon - what is has to teach about film's ability to create and destroy characters and to ascribe meaning that stretches far beyond the boundary of the screen (while always making the most of the screen's boundaries) is a genuine revelation.
Johnnie To is working on a whole other level - and watching his work is like watching the creation of a new universe each and every time.
