I am not a fan of the biopic genre. Too many of them are so similar for some reason even though hardly few lives take the same path, but someone decided on the screenplays should have the same rise and falls. This one has some trappings in that, but not too many. It still feels like Rudy Ray Moore was a made up character, and his larger than life personality leans into that for sure. The movie is full of life with color and various characters. Eddie Murphy gives his best performance that I remember in any recent memory. Not a best of the year for me, but kept up with a good amount of expectations for sure.
