    The Swimmer

    ★★★★

1968: The Swimmer d. Frank Perry & sp. Eleanor Perry
Whilst at a friend’s pool party Ned (#BurtLancaster) realises that he can, with short walks between, swim from one outdoor pool to another all the way home. The closer he gets to home the more disturbed he gets. Unforgettable.

  • Caprice

    Caprice

    ★½

1967: Caprice d. Frank Tashlin Patricia (#DorisDay) is a cosmetic industry espionage agent. She/everyone else is double/triple-crossing one another in this overly complicated crime caper. Despite DD, lovely locations, thrills&spills & #RichardHarris, it’s really rather rubbish.

    Little Joe

    ★★½

Little Joe (2019) w/d. Jessica Hausner. Alice (#EmilyBeecham), Chris (#BenWhishaw) & Bella (#KerryFox) work for an experimental plant breeders. But is their new plant changing people's moods? Beautifully shot: striking framing/use of colour. But was not taken with plot/dialogue.

    Dr Jekyll & Sister Hyde

    ★★★½

Dr Jekyll & Sister Hyde (1971) d. Roy Ward Baker. A virologist gets sidetracked into creating an elixir of life & unexpectedly transforms into a beautiful but deadly woman. This @hammerfilms take on #JekyllandHyde + Burke & Hare and Jack the Ripper. A sexy well-shot chiller.
