The story goes that #NoelCoward so disliked this film version of his operetta that he said he'd never let another be adapted. I'm kinda with him! But then I've never been a fan of #NelsonEddy #JeanetteMacDonald. Romance set in 19th cent Vienna.
Design for Living (1933, Ernst Lubitsch) A year after #NoelCoward's risqué ménage-à-trois romantic comedy caused controversy in Theatre-circles it was given the BenHecht makeover with Miriam Hopkins as the woman unable to choose between two friends (Frederic March & Gary Cooper).

A Princess (#AudreyHepburn) is on a tour of Europe, everything's going well until she reaches Rome. There, she escapes & spends 24hrs with Joe (#GregoryPeck). Probably the most exquisite romantic comedies of all time. A bitter-sweet fairy tale.
