Jonathan’s review published on Letterboxd:
First off was the critics drunk, stoned or what! Did I somehow watch a different film than they did?
I freaking loved this film! I don't know what more you could ask for sure there were a few small things that probably could have been presented a little differently (the biggest for me being the distance between Gotham & Metropolis) another thing I would have liked to have seen more between Lois & Clark (and the Planet staff) i just loved the little stuff like the look between Lois & Clark in the desert.
The cast was brilliant Cavill was better than in MOS and I thought he and Amy Adams had good chemistry. Fishburne is the best Perry White since Lane Smith (that's right I loved his portrayal on ABC's Lois & Clark) and Jeremy Irons take on Alfred is great we see the butler, the mechanic and Batman's aide!
I think its now been established that Ben Affleck is the best live action Bruce/Batman we have seen. However I was impressed with Jesse Eisenberg. I got that this was a different take on Lex the brilliance mixed with the eccentricities (in the mold of some of the young .com billionaires) Gal Gadot she was smokin' hot and the moment she showed up on screen in full Wonder Woman outfit (there were a few yells & hollers) the hairs on the back of my neck stood up (I'm not joking and her theme music! Wow!) and that smirk on her face after getting hit!! It's a shame we have to wait another year to see her stand alone film!
The entire films score was awesome even better than Man of Steel! Shout out to Hans Zimmer & Junkie XL. (whoever or whatever that is?)
I immediately went and bought the Deluxe Edition Soundtrack when I left the theater!
Not going to lie I had the biggest smile on my face the last 30 minutes or so (okay the entire film) until that ending (I can't believe I managed to not hear how it ended with the way the critics bashed it!) That ending! Wow! Again not afraid to admit I had a tear in my eye, it was wonderful & sad all at the same time! I had been waiting (wanting) to see that play out on the big screen since the spring of 1993!
Thank you Zack Snyder!
