To be fair...this is not my normal kind of movie. It is a summer action, big Hollywood situation. The fight choreography was fun and the story seemed timely in terms of radicalization of the white male. There is also a SUPER big/cool/wow explosion that is a nice payoff. In terms of this kind of fun though, give me John Wick or Atomic Blonde instead.
It's a brave new world filled with webcams, and Instagram filters, and this movie made me happy I did not have to deal with either during that murky coming of age timeframe.
I loved seeing this during SXSW, but at a satellite venue outside of the main Fest area. Felt even more true somehow outside of "the bubble."
Some twists that I don't really want to give away, but just know that what could have been exploitive is actually handled with care and in a way that felt appropriate. Casting is excellent overall and with Nichole Bloom and Pat Healy especially.
Fest fave so far!
