The idea of this film was better than the finishing product. I was hoping for more references and call backs to previous Nic Cage movies. I think the film could have been written with him playing any fictionally famous actor and the movie would have played out exactly the same.
*Edit a few days later...the more I think about it, the more I disliked this film. Rating lowered.
That was just fucking naff. I'm trying to think of something good to say about it but I just really didn't enjoy any part of it. Stupid, stupid movie.
Heavy Metal and Horror is a great combo, seeing the genre represented in film always ticks a box for me, though this was slightly cringe in places.
The Devil's Candy is a brutal film which packs a lot into the short run time. A lot of symbolism in the imagery to unpack and on initial viewing I enjoyed it. I'd have preferred the ending to go a different way but we move on.
