Man, I felt like I watched two films here. The first half? Yes, great! Danny Glover's speech? oooooeee Rick, instant classic. More Danny Glover! The second half put too many coals in the fire so to speak, and it dragged. Wasn't invested in Cassius and Detroit's relationship. The protest scenes felt too on the nose and trite, and like so many blockbusters today, this film suffered from poor VFX. Good ideas and an overall important film for today. 3/5 Horsemen
Shook. Seriously this film is stranger than fiction. The sheer improbability of Mark Hogencamp's injury with the recovery to be as creative as he is and on top of all that for the filmmaker to be competent enough to take on this story with care and infuse great storytelling techniques to make it coherent and entertaining is mind bending. If your tired of the "Rise and Fall" formula of a lot of docs you should see this. Nevermind, just see it because this film kicks ass.
