    I’d watch this again over just about any right-wing Evangelical propaganda film I haven’t seen in a heartbeat. I’d also rather not have to make that choice in the future.

    Highly enjoyable camp that fixes some of the story's problems while introducing a few of its own. One of the problems it doesn't fix is its racism, which especially rears its head in the climax where the Good White Heroes butcher nameless Romani henchmen. It's disappointing that Dracula ends on its most ugly, unreconstructed stretch, as it's a rather more successful subversion elsewhere in its (overlong) runtime.

    Coppola might be an enormous asshole, but he knows his way around opulent visuals and the coolest camera tricks in town. The sequence covering the Demeter's voyage is extraordinary.
