Kong: Skull Island

Kong: Skull Island ★★★★

Okay. So went into the movie knowing a lot of the issues people had and I empathized with most of them. Quite frankly they just had so many characters that the movie tries to give screen time to and all of them ended up thin because of it. I don’t even remember most of their names. There was no character arcs really. Little chemistry between the characters. The story in general just didn’t have any life to it.

Where this movie excels though is it’s visuals and I have to say I love the movie simply because of what a treat it was for my eyes. Looking at the sheer beauty of Brie Larson and Tom Hiddleston aside,  the Apocalypse Now-esque color pallete in conjunction with the amazing design work for the island and creatures, sets and the action sequences, I had a fucking blast watching this movie. I was never bored.

Should I want more in a movie? Yes. Did I want more depth? Of course. But i had fun and that’s one of the biggest jobs for a blockbuster like this. Entertain me. And entertain me it did.
