    City of the Living Dead

Anybody that knows me personally knows how big of a metalhead I am, specifically death metal. I recently came across a band that goes by the name of "Fulci", inspired by none other than the godfather of gore himself. After listening to them all day the other day (they're fucking sick by the way.) I figured I would revisit some of Fulcis work. What better place to start than City of the Living Dead? I forgot how absolutely disgusting the…

This felt like James Wan was in the mood to make a new horror movie in the style of an old school classic. It had a little of everything, the awesome soundtrack, the at time cheesy dialogue, the awesome kills and over the top gore. It was a lot better than I was expecting.

Lots of fun! Check it out.

  • Until the Light Takes Us

    Until the Light Takes Us

Super interesting watch for anyone interested in the black metal music scene. I'm personally a pretty big fan, so after watching Lords of Chaos and hearing the lack of realism in all the reviews I read, even though I enjoyed Lords of Chaos I figured I should check out a more accurate documentary type movie to get some real information!

It was super interesting seeing the views on the scene through the eyes of the people who experienced it first hand.

Pure anarchy. Totally creepy. Brutally heavy. Both music wise and content wise.

  • Godzilla

The thing that amazes me so much about these old school monster movies is how in depth and time consuming setting up the set must have been. So many interesting camera angles to make things seem bigger than they really are. So many little things that must have been pretty much required to make a movie like this in a time like that.

That being said, this movie is lots of fun. Very solid acting all around, a soundtrack that…

  • King Kong

    King Kong

I haven't actually reviewed a movie in a quite a while, but I figured what better to time to start again than after watching the OG King Kong!

This movie is a perfect mix, of impressive, hilarious, and epic. Seeing as this was filmed nearly 90 years ago and they still had all these crazy sets and effects to make this movie look WAY ahead of it's time. I mean sure Kong looked a little dopey but it was 1933!…

  • Borat Subsequent Moviefilm

    Borat Subsequent Moviefilm

Oh man this was great. I didn't like it quite as much as the first one but it's still hilarious. Some of the things Sasha Baron Cohen did in this movie were just too much, I was laughing way too hard.

For some reason it went right over my head that a lot of the stuff that happens in the Borat movies is completely legit, they didn't use actors. That makes it so much better for some reason.

The humor is pretty dark at times, maybe a little too dark, but I still highly recommend checking both of these movies out.

Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan

I haven't seen this movie in like 8 years and now that a new ones out I felt like it was a good idea to revisit this one first. Holy shit I forgot how funny this was. It's crazy how loveable somebody as offensive and ignorant as Borat can be.

Made me laugh very hard. 8 years ago as well as now.

  • Yummy

This was gory as hell, stupid as hell, and at times funny as hell. As stupid as it was it doesn't take away from how fun it was for the most part. It was a little bit TOO dumb at times though, and that took away from it a lot for me. Still a pretty fun zombie flick though.

  • The Raid

    The Raid

In my books this is probably one of the best action movies out there. Every part of it just hooks you in and doesn't let go until the very last frame. The soundtrack, the fight choreography, the brutal kills, the constant betrayal. Everything in this movie is great.

If you're a big fan of hyperviolent action flicks like I am, then definitely give this one a go. I can literally guarantee it won't disappoint.

  • Kubo and the Two Strings

    Kubo and the Two Strings

Getting to go on this crazy adventure with Kubo, a child with a brutal past and an incredible talent is a ton of fun. While the story itself is quite sad at first, it eventually leads to happiness for Kubo as well as us the viewers. Even though it's kind of bitter sweet.

The animation was incredible. I looked it up and it's apparently a mix of stop motion and 3D printing. So much of the scenery and visuals in…

  • Feast

So honestly for the first 30 - 45 of this movie I was pretty interested and entertained. The cast was pretty funny and likeable, besides a few very annoying and stupid characters. But as the movie continued I slowly found myself becoming less and less interested.

The monsters were pretty cool looking at first but again they slowly became less and less interesting and they added more wannabe comedic relief that ended up being very ineffective due to it's blatant…

  • Turistas

When I watched this movie I couldn't find any subtitles anywhere so we ended up watching it completely subtitle-less. While I feel like that definitely took away from the movie I also don't think they would have saved it.

This was honestly pretty dumb. The story was decent, and pretty interesting but I found it got ruined pretty quickly by lack of decent characters and decent acting. I didn't find myself really liking anybody. Somebody would die and I just…
