A slow start and a little ham fisted with the social messaging but overall effective and I like the ending, as predictable as it was.
It looks good but has no fucking point. It's not scary, it's not suspenseful (except for why the bear is in the movie, even then the pay off was weak) and not particularly interesting.
I get people want smart horror but convoluted isn't smart... It's someone using big words out of context to sound smart. MidSommar takes way too long to tell the thin story contained in its bloated 2hr 30min runtime.
Not for nothing... all these grad student psych and anthropology majors couldn't see this coming? Word?!?!?!
