Evan’s review published on Letterboxd:
I wasn’t sure what to expect going into this because I really liked They Live about an equal amount to how much I disliked Halloween. But, now I can say I like John Carpenter!
This is how to do horror! As much as I respect Halloween for doing what it did first (well, excluding Psycho), all that did was make me love Cabin In The Woods more.
But this? This is scary. This is real horror. Building tension then getting loose, never really letting go even at the ending.
Also, these practical effects are better than like 80% of today’s CGI. The whole time I was in awe as to how they accomplished what they did.
