I think it's lovely how the movie manages to personalize these mentally diseased characters each in their own unique way. Yes, it had no choice given that 90% of its cast was that way, but I can imagine how patience demanding and precise shooting this film was, and I appreciate the effort these guys put into their work. This is one of those films where you sit back and think, 'wow, these guys were really devoted to painting an authentic picture' - and they did.
Brad Dourif, the guy who played Billy, did things with his eyes I've never seen before. They weren't the window to his soul, they were his soul.
