‘Screen Violence’ is out now 📺🔪
V gory, silly and serious, for me a solid second chapter in the trilogy. I understand why people are upset about all the exposition and feel like it’s not *as good* as 2018 but I still prefer these to most of the other sequels. I like the world they’re building / chosen timeline and can handle the odd bit of cheese in order to serve a more emotional take on the tale.
Soundtrack on point, natürlich.
I know the narrative around this film is “B movie homage” but that’s not really landing for me. There are some funny and silly moments but overall the tone and the aesthetic felt really at odds with what they seem to be paying tribute too. A lot of clearly talented people worked on it but it felt expensive and too flashy and almost like Blade-meets-Nu-Metal-music-video.
