Cairo Station

The strange tale of a mentally unstable paper boy and his struggles to distinguish love and violence. Shot in a style that owes a serious debt to Italian neo-realism, visuals are the standout here.

Not so sure how I feel about framing a conflict between a fledgling union of workers and their corrupt employers, only to focus in on a disable beggar as the true (?) villain. At a certain point, the film seems to forget there was ever a class struggle at play.

An entertaining watch, well-realised for the screen, but I have my reservations.
