This movie was made for me, this movie made me cry, and put me in the most gut renching crisis.
Greta is bringing back formalism to cinema; with all the earnest and fake elements of golden era hollywood. Itβs post-IP, itβs post marvel. Obviously itβs the Barbie movie but it didnβt have to look so toyetic; it didnβt have to feel like a love letter to people like Demy; it didnβt need a big dance scene that looked like somethingβ¦
Idk this movie kinda sucked.
I finished it was like okay that was a movie?? Like sure the commentary on yuppie culture, cliques, and the in/out group dynamics of alternative culture are there. Yet those commentaries fall short when the main characters are those your critiquing with none of that reflected in the text.
Like cool the last days of disco yet none of theses people were the core crowd of disco, yet the text never does anything to showβ¦
